Available Seasonal Positions

Aircraft Loader

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent education, and possess a current Washington State Driver’s License.  New hires will be required to pass a federal security background check. Applicants must be dependable, reliable, and able to pass a drug screening test. Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Applicants must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively with other employees and the public. Applicants must be able to use a step ladder, lift and carry heavy loads (50 lbs), drive and operate machinery. Applicants with experience operating a forklift are encouraged to apply, but training will be provided. Starting wage is $25.00/hour with a guarantee of 24 hours per week. No previous experienced is required for this job. Scheduled hours are Tuesday through Thursday, approximately 1 hour prior to sunrise through 3pm.  Hours may vary depending on district needs. This is a seasonal position which will be staffed from April 15th through October 15th.

Field Technicians

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent education, and possess a current Washington State Driver’s License.  New hires will be required to pass WSDA Pesticide Applicators license exams. GCMCD will provide study materials necessary for exams. Applicants must be dependable, reliable, and be able to pass a drug screening test. Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Applicants must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively with other employees and the public. Applicants must be able to walk long distances (4 to 5 miles) over uneven terrain, use a step ladder, able to lift and carry heavy loads (50 lbs), able to use a machete, tree-loppers, for clearing brush and trail making. Applicants with experience operating an ATV are encouraged to apply, but training is provided. Starting wage is $19.50/hour with a pay increase to $21.50/hour after attaining the WSDA Pesticide Applicators license. No previous experienced required for this job. Scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday, ranging from 30 to 40+ hours a week with the possibility of occasional weekend and evening work. Hours may vary depending on mosquito activity. Laboratory Assistants

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent education, and possess a current Washington State Driver’s License. New hires will be required to pass WSDA Pesticide Applicators license exams. GCMCD will provide study materials necessary for exams. Applicants must be dependable, reliable, and be able to pass a drug screening test. Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Applicants must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively with other employees and the public. Applicants must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain, able to use step ladder, able to physically lift and carry heavy loads (50 lbs), and able to use a machete, tree-loppers, for clearing brush and trail making. Applicants must also have good vision and the ability to use a microscope for mosquito identification. Starting wage is $19.50/hour with a pay increase to $21.50/hour after attaining the WSDA Pesticide Applicators license. No previous experience required for this job. Scheduled hours are Sunday afternoon through Thursday, ranging from 30 to 40+ hours a week with the possibility of occasional Friday and evening work. Hours may vary depending on mosquito activity. Night Technicians

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a current Washington State Driver’s License. New hires will be required to pass WSDA Pesticide applicators license exams.  GCMCD will provide study materials necessary for exams. Applicants must be able to pass a drug screening test. Applicants must be dependable and reliable with a clean driving record. In this position you will be working independently covering scheduled routes where adult mosquitoes are present. Starting wage is $19.50/hour with a pay increase to $21.50/hour after achieving WSDA Pesticide applicators license. Work is performed in the evenings between dusk and dawn. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, ranging from 5 to 20+ hours a week with the possibility of occasional weekend work. Email completed application to ckeel@gcmcd1.org.

Grant County Mosquito Control District No.1 (GCMCD) is announcing the beginning of the spray application season. The district will be utilizing multiple insecticides for 2024. These include Vectobac G/GS (EPA#73049-10), VectoMax FG (EPA#73049-429), Altosid (EPA#89459), Fourstar Bti CRG (EPA#85685-4) Natular G/Censor (EPA#8329-80), Natular G30 (EPA#8329-83), CoCo Bear (EPA#8329-93), Duet (EPA#1021-1795-8329), Zenivex E20 (EPA#2724-791), and Merus 3.0 (EPA#8329-108). The active ingredients of these insecticides are Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, Bacillus sphaericus, Methoprene, Spinosad, Sumithrin, Piperonyl Butoxide, Prallethrin, Pyrethrin, and Etofenprox. Applications will begin in March and continue through October 2024, all of which are weather dependent. Treatment locations will be within the mosquito control district defined at www.gcmcd1.org. More information about the insecticides planned for use can be found at www.clarke.com, www.valentbiosciences.com, and www.centralmosquitocontrol.com.
